Provisional Programme

Unfortunately due to the recent security alerts and restrictions at UK airports many flights to the UK have been cancelled. This means that Gary Schocker, Mimi Stillman and Robert Dick are unable to appear at the Convention. We are pleased to announce that their places have been taken by the British composer/performer Mike Mower, who will play a selection of his own works, and the distinguished British soloist, Philippa Davies.The online programme has been changed to reflect the revised schedule.

Note: The BFS reserves the right to alter the schedule of events and artists appearing without prior notification

Individual tickets are available to members of the public for all Evening Concerts and
certain other performance during the Convention.
Prices are £10 per concert (£5 concessions).

Flute Repertoire Private Classes:
Daily at 11.10 and 15.30
Please tell the Desk on arrival when and what you want to play, or hand in your
request to one of the Staff who will give you a time and place straight away.
These are valuable sessions with highly experienced accompanists who have
played with many of the world’s finest players. Make use of them!

Teacher’s Clinic. Speakers, Sandra Howard and Carolyn Kelly with an Intermission recital of exam pieces from the AB List performed by Emma Williams with Richard Shaw. Ian McLauchlan will talk about on-the-spot repairs and solutions to teachers faced with urgent repair problems. Trevor Wye will talk on The Advantages of Memory in Daily Exercises. Concerts Lumiere will demonstrate what can be achieved with flute ensembles. Emma Williams on Trinity and ABRSM repertoire. Mark Parkinson presents ABRSM jazz syllabus. The afternoon is followed by a Question and Answer Session to a panel of experts.

Trade Time: Repertoire experts from the Trade Stands will talk about the latest flute and piccolo publications.

The Burning of Jan Palach, a Mini-Opera by Alan Ridout. Rehearsed and performed by the audience. Directed by Trevor Wye with Melissa Morris and Richard Shaw, pianos.
Arthur Haswell, Master repairman of both wood and metal flutes, will be available at his table on the Middle Concourse throughout the Convention for small and immediate flute repairs and advice. This service is free of charge.
